A Komodo Notification is mechanism for getting the status of a network being tested by a Komodo Eye Device. There are several methods of notification.
- Email notification
- SMS text notification
- Webhook notification
- Daily Summary Report
You can find notification configuration settings on the Komodo Dashboard by clicking on the Settings menu item. Each type of notification has its own settings. There are several additional settings that are global for all notifications. The global settings are as follows.
- Notification Delay
- Triggered By Threshold Metrics
- Triggered By Device Status (offline/online)
Notification Delay
Notification Delay is a value that determines when to send the notification alarm message. The notification triggering condition must exist for the entire Delay value before a notification alarm message is sent. For example, if the Delay value is 5 minutes, and the Triggered By Threshold Metrics is checked (set to "true"), then a notification alarm message will be sent the first time a Komodo Eye Device measures a Komodo Threshold value that is exceeded. Remember, a Komodo Test is conducted every 5 minutes.
Triggered By Threshold Metrics
Triggered By Threshold Metrics means that a notification alarm message is sent when any one of the three Komodo Threshold values are exceeded. These threshold values can be set by clicking the Edit button on a Komodo SSID Card. The three threshold values are as follows.
- Associate Strength Threshold = signal strength of a Wi-Fi Network SSID measured during the Komodo Association Test
- Latency Threshold = latency metric measured by the Komodo Latency Test
- Speed Rate Threshold = speed metric measured by the Komodo Speed Test
A notification alarm message will be sent when the Notification Delay setting requirement is met and only once for each Komodo Test assignment when the threshold value is exceeded. A notification clear message will be sent immediately, and only once, when the alarming threshold metric falls below the threshold value.
Triggered By Device Status
Triggered By Device Status means that a notification alarm message is sent when a Komodo Eye Device does not report a Komodo Test result for the Notification Delay setting amount of time. In other words, if the Delay value is 30 minutes, and the Triggered By Device Status is checked (set to "true"), then a notification alarm message will be sent anytime a Komodo Eye Device does not report a Komodo Test result for an entire 30 minute time period. A notification clear message will be sent immediately, and only once, when the Komodo Eye Device that triggered the alarm starts reporting again.
